Paris CDG: Taxi, Uber or Pre-Booked Transfer in 2026?
Paris fixes the taxi price from Charles de Gaulle by law, so the usual fear of the meter does not apply here. What decides the answer is which bank of the Seine you are heading to, how many of you there are, and what time you land.
Short answer for Paris CDG: the official taxi is a flat €56 to the Right Bank and €65 to the Left Bank, day or night. UberX averaged about €44 over the last month on Uber’s own route data, and the RER B costs €14 a person on the Paris Région ↔ Aéroports ticket. One or two people travelling light: the RER B by day, an Uber at night. Three or four with luggage, or a Left Bank hotel: the flat taxi or a fixed transfer — Welcome Pickups is a fixed €56 from CDG and Kiwitaxi starts at about €55.
| Option | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Official taxi | €56 Right Bank / €65 Left Bank | Flat fare fixed by law, same day and night; official rank only |
| UberX | about €44 on average | Uber’s average for the last month, 32 km and about 51 minutes; surges at peak |
| Uber Comfort / XL / Van | about €59 / €77 / €84 | The bigger cars cost more than the flat taxi |
| RER B | €14 per person | Paris Région ↔ Aéroports ticket, 35 min to Châtelet; reduced fare €7 |
| Buses 350 / 351 | €2.05 | Bus-tram ticket; the airport rail ticket is not valid on buses |
| Welcome Pickups | fixed €56 | Driver inside the terminal, 60 minutes of free waiting |
| Kiwitaxi | €55 economy – €95 business | Economy for 3 people and 2 cases; minivan for 6 about €75 |
The CDG flat taxi fare: €56 or €65, set by law
Licensed Paris taxis charge a fixed fare from Charles de Gaulle into the city: €56 to the Right Bank and €65 to the Left Bank. The price does not move with traffic or the hour, and it covers the car, not each passenger. Left Bank addresses — the 5th, 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th and 15th arrondissements — pay the higher fare; most of the rest of central Paris is Right Bank.
The flat fare only protects you at the official rank outside arrivals. Anyone who approaches you inside the terminal offering a ride is not part of it.
Uber at CDG: cheaper on average, not guaranteed
Uber’s own route page puts the average UberX ride from CDG to Paris at about €44 over the last month, for 32 km and roughly 51 minutes. Against a €56 Right Bank taxi that is a typical saving of around €12, and around €21 against the €65 Left Bank fare.
Two things narrow that gap. The app price is set when you request it, so a delayed evening arrival in a surge can cost more than the flat taxi. And the larger cars cost more than a taxi does: Uber Comfort averages about €59, UberXL about €77 and Uber Van about €84, while a standard Paris taxi already takes four passengers at the flat fare.
RER B: €14 a person, and the maths changes at four
Since 1 January 2026 the RER B to and from CDG needs the Paris Région ↔ Aéroports ticket at €14 (€7 reduced fare). It reaches Châtelet in about 35 minutes and is the fastest option when the motorway is jammed. The same ticket covers Orlyval and metro line 14 to Orly, but not buses — the 350 and 351 take an ordinary €2.05 bus-tram ticket instead.
The arithmetic is worth doing before you queue for tickets: four people on the RER B pay €56, exactly the Right Bank taxi fare, and still have to get from the station to the hotel. Two people with suitcases at rush hour pay €28 for a hard ride. The train wins clearly for one person, narrowly for two, and stops winning at three or four.
Roissybus, the old coach from CDG to Opéra, no longer runs — it ended on 28 February 2026 — and the CDG Express rail link is not due until 2027. Guides that still recommend either are out of date.
When a pre-booked transfer is worth it
Welcome Pickups charges a fixed €56 from CDG — the same as the Right Bank taxi — but the driver waits inside the terminal with your name and the first 60 minutes of waiting are free. On a delayed long-haul flight that is the whole product. Kiwitaxi fixes both price and vehicle class at booking: about €55 for an economy car for three people and two cases, about €75 for a minivan for six and about €95 for a business sedan.
For five or six people the transfer becomes the cheaper option outright: one €75 minivan against two taxis at €112 to €130. GetTransfer lets drivers bid on a specified vehicle, and intui.travel covers shared shuttles when price is the only priority. Check the cancellation terms before you pay — they differ more than the prices do.
The short version
Solo, daytime, light luggage: RER B at €14. Two people, Right Bank, daytime: UberX, usually around €44. Three or four with cases, or a Left Bank hotel: the €56 or €65 flat taxi from the official rank. Five or more, a child seat, or a late arrival you do not want to manage: a pre-booked transfer.
