GetTransfer Review 2026

Short answer: book GetTransfer when you want the lowest price and have days rather than hours. Instead of fixed prices it runs an auction: you post the route and local drivers bid with their price, vehicle and rating. Winning bids typically land 15–30% under the fixed-price platforms, and coverage reaches 180+ countries — the widest of the four. The costs are time and certainty. First bids arrive within 1–12 hours, minutes on busy routes; a major city like London or Istanbul draws 8–15 bids, a thin market such as Marrakech or Auckland maybe 2–4, and on a genuinely niche route none may arrive at all. Once you accept a bid, cancellation follows that carrier’s terms rather than a single platform policy.

Pros

✓ Often the cheapest option — auction model drives prices down

✓ Widest vehicle selection (sedans to buses to helicopters)

✓ Largest coverage: 180+ countries worldwide

✓ Pay cash to driver option on many routes

✓ Dedicated mobile app for iOS and Android

Cons

✗ Quality varies — marketplace model means inconsistent drivers

✗ Must wait for driver bids (not instant booking)

✗ Higher rate of complaints about no-shows vs competitors

✗ Low-price bids may come with older vehicles

How GetTransfer Works

GetTransfer operates as a marketplace — think of it as the "eBay of airport transfers." Instead of showing you a fixed price, GetTransfer lets you post your route and wait for drivers to bid on it. You see each bid's price, the driver's rating, vehicle type, and reviews from other passengers. You pick the offer you like best.

This auction model is what makes GetTransfer typically the cheapest option. Drivers compete for your business, especially on popular routes where many drivers operate. On a busy route like Barcelona Airport to city center, you might get 5-10 bids within an hour, with prices ranging from €20 to €40.

The trade-off is speed and predictability. You don't get instant confirmation — you need to wait for bids and then evaluate them. On popular routes, the first bids arrive within minutes. On less common routes, it can take hours. And because any registered driver can bid, vehicle quality and service standards are less consistent than on curated platforms like Welcome Pickups.

Pricing & Value

GetTransfer is almost always the cheapest option among the services we compare. The auction model means drivers compete on price, which benefits you as the buyer. On popular routes, GetTransfer transfers can be 30-50% cheaper than Welcome Pickups and 20-30% cheaper than Kiwitaxi.

However, the cheapest bid isn't always the best value. Very low-price bids may come from drivers with older vehicles, less experience, or lower ratings. We recommend filtering by driver rating (4.5+ stars) and reading recent reviews before accepting the cheapest offer. A slightly higher bid from a highly-rated driver is often worth it.

GetTransfer also offers a cash payment option on some routes, which can be convenient if you don't want to pay online in advance.

Coverage

GetTransfer claims the widest coverage of any airport transfer service — over 150 countries. Because it's an open marketplace, any driver anywhere can register and start accepting bookings. This means you're more likely to find availability in unusual destinations where curated services don't operate.

The flip side is that "coverage" on a marketplace doesn't guarantee quality or even real availability. A country may be "covered" because one driver registered there, but that driver may not be active, responsive, or reliable. On mainstream tourist routes, GetTransfer's coverage is excellent with plenty of competing drivers. On very niche routes, availability can be hit-or-miss.

Popular GetTransfer routes & cities

GetTransfer's bidding model is strongest in markets with a deep local driver pool where competition drives winning bids below fixed-price platforms. These are routes where we've seen GetTransfer consistently deliver value:

Vehicle Options

GetTransfer offers the widest vehicle selection among all airport transfer platforms. Available categories include: Economy sedan, Comfort sedan/SUV, Business class, Minivan (4-7 passengers), Minibus (8-19 passengers), Bus (20-50+ passengers), Limousine, and on select routes, even helicopters. Each driver listing shows the specific vehicle model, photos, and capacity.

This variety is a direct result of the marketplace model — any driver with any vehicle can register and bid. For travelers needing unusual vehicles (large group buses, luxury cars, wheelchair-accessible vans), GetTransfer is often the only platform with real availability. The trade-off is that vehicle condition is more variable than on curated platforms — always check vehicle photos and driver reviews before accepting a bid.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

The refund is decided by the fare you pick at checkout, not by how early you cancel. On the Standard rate a cancellation returns nothing whenever you make it — GetTransfer states plainly that cancellations always carry a charge to cover the driver’s costs. On the Flexible rate, which costs up to 20% more, you are refunded in full at any point up to the start of the ride; it is the strongest cancellation term of any platform we cover. For changes (different time or pickup location), contact GetTransfer support; most changes can be accommodated if made in advance.

One thing to be aware of: if you accept a driver's bid and then cancel repeatedly, it can affect your buyer rating on the platform. This isn't typically an issue for occasional travelers, but worth knowing.

Customer Support

GetTransfer provides support through their app, email, and an online form. They don't offer phone support, which can be frustrating if you have an urgent issue on transfer day. For day-of-transfer problems, you're expected to contact your driver directly using the phone number provided when the bid was accepted.

Support response times vary — usually within a few hours for non-urgent queries, but can be slower during peak travel periods. The app includes a messaging function for communicating with your assigned driver, which works reasonably well for simple coordination.

Mobile Experience

GetTransfer has a functional mobile app for iOS and Android. You can post routes, receive and compare bids, communicate with drivers, and manage bookings. The app includes driver tracking on some routes, though the implementation isn't as polished as Welcome Pickups' real-time GPS tracking.

The app's strongest feature is the bid management interface — you can see all incoming offers, filter by price or rating, and accept directly from your phone. For travelers who enjoy the auction process, it works well. The interface is functional rather than beautiful, but gets the job done.

Our Verdict

GetTransfer is the budget traveler's best friend. If price is your primary consideration and you're willing to spend a few extra minutes comparing bids and checking driver ratings, GetTransfer will almost always save you money. It's also the best choice for group travel — their vehicle selection is unmatched, from minibuses to full coaches.

The trade-offs are real: less consistent quality, no instant booking, and occasional reliability issues. It works best on popular routes where driver competition is high. For a critical transfer (early morning flight, traveling with elderly parents), a more curated service like Kiwitaxi or Welcome Pickups may be worth the premium.

FAQ

GetTransfer FAQ

Yes, GetTransfer is a legitimate platform operating since 2015 with millions of completed transfers. However, because it's an open marketplace, driver quality varies more than on curated platforms. Always check driver ratings (aim for 4.5+ stars) and read recent reviews before accepting a bid.

On popular routes (major European and Asian airports), the first bids typically arrive within 5–15 minutes. On less common routes, it can take several hours. For very niche routes, you might not receive any bids at all — in that case, try Kiwitaxi or intui.travel instead.

Yes — GetTransfer offers a cash payment option on many routes, which is unusual among transfer platforms. You can choose to pay online at booking or in cash to the driver. Cash payment may limit which drivers bid on your route.

No-shows are rare but do happen on marketplace platforms. If your driver doesn't arrive, contact GetTransfer support immediately through the app. They can try to arrange an alternative driver. For critical transfers (early flights, family travel), consider booking on a more curated platform like Kiwitaxi or Welcome Pickups.

Most routes receive 3–5 bids within 1–2 hours of posting. Popular routes often get bids within 15–30 minutes. You can book the first acceptable bid immediately — you don't have to wait for all bids.

Five to seven days before the trip gives the best mix of bid volume and price. On busy routes — Heathrow to London, CDG to Paris, JFK to Manhattan — three days still attracts 5–10 bids. More than two weeks out tends to backfire, and a request posted at 2am local time can sit 8–12 hours before drivers notice it.

Weigh price, vehicle and driver rating together. Above 4.5 out of 5 is generally reliable, 4.0–4.5 varies, below 4.0 is worth avoiding unless the route has no alternatives. Trip count matters as much as the score: 4.6 from 200 rides beats 5.0 from three. As a benchmark, a bid should come in 15–30% below the Kiwitaxi fixed price for the same route — one only 5% cheaper is not worth the uncertainty.

The catch is the fare, not the timing. The Standard rate is the default and it does not refund at all, at any notice — travellers who assume an early cancellation is safe find out at that point. The Flexible rate is the fix: up to 20% more at booking, 100% back at any time up to the start of the ride. On an uncertain trip that premium is the price of being able to change your mind at all, and the decision is made at checkout rather than at cancellation. Approved refunds take 5–7 business days, and a card refund can take up to 30 days to appear depending on your bank.
