Kiwitaxi Review 2026

Last updated: 8 August 2026

★ 4.5 / 5 Recommended

A reliable airport transfer platform with solid global coverage and competitive pricing. A good all-rounder, especially for travelers heading to less common destinations.

Short answer: book Kiwitaxi when you want the price settled and forgotten. The fare is fixed the moment you book and covers meet-and-greet, door-to-door service, flight tracking, free airport waiting, fuel, tolls and local taxes; there is no night surcharge and no meter, so a 3am landing costs what the afternoon quote said. Coverage runs to 100+ countries with a fleet from economy sedans through minibuses, which makes it the practical default for groups and for destinations Welcome Pickups does not reach. The one real drawback: Kiwitaxi does not modify bookings — a change means cancelling and rebooking at whatever price is current.

Pros

✓ Covers 100+ countries, including hard-to-reach destinations

✓ Fixed prices with no hidden fees

Cons

✗ Mobile app is newer and less mature than Welcome Pickups'

✗ Customer support can be slow during peak periods

✗ Quality varies between local operators

✗ iOS and Android app (launched 2026)

How Kiwitaxi Works

Kiwitaxi is a booking platform, not a transport company. When you book through Kiwitaxi, you're actually hiring a local transfer operator who has been vetted and contracted by Kiwitaxi. This is the same model used by most airport transfer comparison sites — similar to how Booking.com works for hotels.

The booking process is straightforward: enter your airport (or any pickup point), your destination address or hotel, select a date and time, and choose a vehicle class. Prices are fixed at the time of booking — no meters, no surge pricing, no surprises. You pay online in advance, and receive confirmation with your driver's details (name, phone number, vehicle type and license plate) by email, typically 12-24 hours before pickup.

At the airport, your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign. If your flight is delayed, the driver monitors your flight and adjusts — there's no penalty for flight delays.

Pricing & Value

Kiwitaxi's pricing sits in the mid-range among airport transfer services. They're generally cheaper than Welcome Pickups (which charges a premium for their tracking app and curated experience) but more expensive than GetTransfer (which uses an auction model where drivers bid on your route). For most popular routes, expect to pay €15–50 for a sedan transfer.

The fixed pricing model means no unpleasant surprises. What you see at booking is what you pay — tolls, parking fees, and flight monitoring are included. The only exception is if you book additional services like a child seat (€5-10 extra on most routes).

Coverage

This is one of Kiwitaxi's strongest points. They operate in over 100 countries across every continent. While Welcome Pickups focuses on 360+ cities in popular tourist destinations, Kiwitaxi covers a much wider range of locations — including smaller airports in Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Africa. If you're flying into a secondary airport in a less-visited country, Kiwitaxi is more likely to have coverage than most competitors.

Popular Kiwitaxi routes & cities

Kiwitaxi's breadth really pays off on longer routes and in destinations where Welcome Pickups doesn't operate. Here are routes where we specifically recommend Kiwitaxi:

Kiwitaxi covers many cities where other platforms have thin coverage. Browse all destinations in our city guides, or see how Kiwitaxi compares to each competitor in the compare section.

Vehicle Options

Kiwitaxi offers multiple vehicle classes depending on the route: Economy (standard sedan for 1-3 passengers), Comfort (larger sedan or SUV), Minivan (4-7 passengers), and Minibus (up to 19 passengers). On popular routes, you may also see Business class options. Each listing shows the exact vehicle model or type, maximum passengers, maximum luggage pieces, and included amenities.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

The deadline depends on the vehicle class, and it runs the opposite way to what most travellers expect: the cheaper cars get the longer leash. Micro, Economy, Comfort, Minivan 4 pax and Minibus 7 pax can be cancelled without penalty up to 5 hours before the transfer — the most forgiving deadline of the four platforms we cover. Business, Premium, Premium Minibus 6 pax, Luxury SUV and the 10 to 19-seat minibuses need 24 hours. Cancel later than that and the prepayment is not returned; Kiwitaxi’s terms allow the retained amount to reach the full transfer price, so do not count on a partial recovery. Two things to plan around: Kiwitaxi states refunds are returned within 60 bank days, far slower than anyone else here, and it sells an optional cancellation cover at roughly 3–4% of the fare that refunds the order in full whenever you cancel. For changes (different time, destination), Kiwitaxi is generally flexible if you contact them early enough.

Customer Support

Kiwitaxi offers support via email and an online form. They don't have phone support or live chat, which is a limitation compared to Welcome Pickups (which offers in-app chat). Response times are generally acceptable (within a few hours) but can slow down during peak travel season. For urgent issues on the day of transfer, you're expected to contact the local operator directly using the phone number provided in your confirmation.

Mobile Experience

Kiwitaxi launched its first mobile app in January 2026 for iOS and Android. The app lets you book transfers, view trip details, add trips to Apple Wallet or your calendar, and manage bookings. It's a newer app compared to Welcome Pickups' more mature offering, so some features like real-time driver tracking are still catching up.

FAQ

Kiwitaxi FAQ

Yes, Kiwitaxi is a legitimate airport transfer booking platform that has been operating since 2012. They work with vetted local transport providers in over 100 countries. The company is part of the Travelpayouts affiliate network and has generally positive reviews on Trustpilot.

You enter your pickup location (airport), destination (hotel or address), date and time, and number of passengers. Kiwitaxi shows available vehicles with fixed prices. You pay online at booking, and a driver meets you at the airport with a name sign. You receive driver details (name, phone, vehicle) via email before arrival.

It depends on the vehicle class. Economy-tier cars — Micro, Economy, Comfort, Minivan 4 pax, Minibus 7 pax — can be cancelled without penalty up to 5 hours before the transfer. Business, Premium, Luxury SUV and the larger minibuses need 24 hours. Cancel after the deadline and the prepayment is not refunded. Refunds take up to 60 bank days, and an optional cover at about 3–4% of the fare returns the full amount whenever you cancel.

Child seats are available on most routes but must be requested during booking. Availability depends on the local operator. There may be an additional charge. If a child seat is critical for your trip, confirm availability with Kiwitaxi support before booking.

Yes — Kiwitaxi allows bookings up to 16 hours before pickup, and some routes accept same-day bookings. Prices are fixed and confirmed instantly, unlike bidding platforms where you wait for driver offers.

No. Kiwitaxi states plainly that there is no night surcharge and no meter: the fare is fixed at booking whatever the hour. That is the opposite of a metered taxi, which typically adds 20–50% between midnight and 6am, and it is the main reason a pre-booked car wins on a late landing.

The fixed fare covers meet-and-greet at the terminal, door-to-door service, flight tracking, free airport waiting, fuel, tolls and local taxes. Not included: a gratuity, which stays discretionary, and extras such as a child seat or an additional stop, which are priced separately and shown before payment.

No — Kiwitaxi does not offer booking modifications. To change the date, time or destination you cancel and rebook, which means accepting whatever price is current rather than the one you locked in. Cancelling more than 24 hours ahead is free with a refund in 5–7 business days; inside 24 hours a fee of 20–50% applies, usually around 30% for a standard sedan. If your plans are genuinely uncertain, intui.travel’s 48-hour window or GetTransfer before a driver is assigned give you more room.
