KLIA (KUL), KLIA2 (KUL)
KLIA (main terminal) and KLIA2 (budget airlines — AirAsia) are connected by free shuttle but 2 km apart. Always confirm which terminal your flight uses. The KLIA Ekspres station is in the basement of KLIA and directly at KLIA2.
KLIA Ekspres to KL Sentral: RM55 (~$12), 28 min — the fastest option. KLIA Transit (stopping service): RM55, 35 min with stops.
Airport Coach to KL Sentral: RM12 (~$2.50), 60-75 min. Star Shuttle to city center: RM12. Comfortable but slow in traffic.
KL airport taxis are regulated with prepaid coupon system. Budget taxis (MYR 84/$18) and premium taxis (MYR 145/$31) to city center. Generally safe but the prepaid system can be confusing.
Kiwitaxi — Fixed prices from ~$18 to central KL. Clearer pricing than the airport coupon system.
GetTransfer — Bids from $14 to KLCC. Often cheapest option for the long KLIA route.

Grab works excellently in Malaysia including KLIA. Designated pickup zone. Often the cheapest and most convenient option.
KLIA Ekspres train (28 min to KL Sentral, MYR 55/$12) is fast and comfortable. The best option for solo travelers.
KLIA vs KLIA2: These are two separate terminals, 2 km apart. KLIA handles full-service airlines; KLIA2 is for budget carriers (AirAsia, Malindo). Always confirm your terminal. The KLIA Ekspres serves both but they're different stops.
The KLIA Ekspres advantage: At 28 minutes to KL Sentral, the Ekspres is unbeatable for speed and comfort — air-conditioned, spacious, with luggage racks. But at RM55 (~$12), it's pricier than a bus. For groups of 3+, a transfer is cheaper.
Touch 'n Go card: Malaysia's transit card works on trains, buses, tolls, and convenience stores. Buy one at the airport — it saves time and money throughout your trip.
Grab is everywhere: Grab (Southeast Asia's Uber) is the dominant ride-hailing app. It's safe, reliable, and often cheaper than taxis. Download it before you arrive.

Language: Malay and English (English widely spoken) Having your hotel address saved on your phone (screenshot or Google Maps pin) is always helpful for drivers.
Tipping: Not expected in Malaysia. Rounding up by RM5 is generous.

SIM / connectivity: Malaysian SIM cards from Maxis, Celcom, or Digi at KLIA. Tourist SIMs from RM25 (~$5) for 15GB data.
Tip 1: KLIA is far from the city (55 km). Budget at least 45-60 min for car transfers, more during rush hour.

Tip 3: Grab is extremely well-integrated in Malaysia. Often the best option — reliable, cheap, and no language barrier.
