Taipei's TPE is 40 km west of the city. The Taoyuan Airport MRT opened in 2017 and changed the calculation entirely: NT$150 ($5) for the Express service to Taipei Main Station in 35 minutes, or NT$150 for the Commuter at 50 minutes. This is excellent and usually the right choice. Official taxis are NT$1,000–1,300 ($35–46). Pre-booked transfers at €22–40 compete mainly on door-to-door convenience.
