Taxi and Uber context
Korean taxis are metered, honest, and comfortable — but Incheon is 52 km from Seoul, making rides expensive (₩65,000–85,000). The AREX train to Seoul Station takes 43 minutes for ₩9,500. This is why pre-booked transfers are popular — fixed prices, no surprises.
Local tip
Seoul's ICN is 52 km west of the city — the second-longest airport distance on this site after KL. But the AREX train system makes it irrelevant: the AREX Express to Seoul Station is KRW 11,000 (€7.50) in 43 minutes, and the All-Stop is KRW 4,250 (€3) in 60 minutes. These are both excellent. Official taxi is KRW 65,000–90,000 (€44–62). Pre-booked transfers at €40–75 compete mainly on door-to-door convenience for specific districts.
How we rated each service
For Seoul we tested each platform against the very strong AREX Express baseline. Key factors: door-to-door value for non-central neighborhoods where the subway adds 30–45 minutes to the trip, Korean-English communication quality (still a limiting factor for some drivers), and late-night reliability when AREX stops running.
Our verdict
Seoul is one of the weakest pre-book cases globally. The AREX Express at €7.50 is one of the best airport trains in the world. Pre-booked transfers win for: families with kids and luggage (the train-to-metro-to-hotel chain is miserable with three bags), destinations far from an AREX/subway station (some parts of Gangnam, Hongdae, Itaewon), late arrivals after the last AREX (around midnight), and groups of 4+. Kiwitaxi has strong ICN coverage.

Common questions about transfer services
GetTransfer bids for ICN → central Seoul commonly win at KRW 55,000–80,000 (€38–55) — below the official taxi rate. The AREX Express at KRW 11,000 is dramatically cheaper for anyone with manageable luggage.
Korean taxis are metered, honest, and comfortable — but Incheon is 52 km from Seoul, making rides expensive (₩65,000–85,000). The AREX train to Seoul Station takes 43 minutes for ₩9,500. Pre-booked transfers offer fixed pricing, meet-and-greet, and flight tracking — worth it for families, groups, and late arrivals.
Seoul transfers are stable year-round. Book 3–5 days ahead for Cherry Blossom season (early April), Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving), and Lunar New Year. Outside peaks, 48 hours is sufficient.
Korean law requires child seats for children under 6. Welcome Pickups provides them free. Kiwitaxi charges a modest fee. For GetTransfer and intui.travel, confirm — Korean private drivers are generally compliant but not universally stocked.
ICN has world-class live flight tracking that all four services consume. Immigration for most nationalities is fast at ICN (under 20 minutes via the e-gates). The 60-minute free waiting buffer is very generous here.
