THB and EUR rates. Patong is default destination; Kata, Karon, Kamala, and Nai Harn quoted separately. Updated March 2026.
Taxi and Uber context
Phuket airport taxis use fixed rates (no meters). The official counter inside Arrivals charges THB 800–1,200 depending on destination. Touts outside charge more. Grab is available but limited. This is why pre-booked transfers are popular — fixed prices, no surprises.
Local tip
Phuket's HKT is 32 km from Patong and 40 km from Kata/Karon — meaningfully far, which makes this one of the few Thai destinations where transfers consistently make sense. Official airport taxis are overpriced at THB 800–1,200 (€20–30) and routinely try to add fake fees. Pre-booked transfers at THB 550–900 (€14–23) are cheaper, fixed-price, and include English communication. This is a mandatory pre-book for most travelers.
How we rated each service
For Phuket we rated each platform on the long-route reliability (HKT → Kata is 50+ minutes), fixed-price handling vs the airport taxi mafia alternative, and driver English proficiency for the large international tourist base.
Our verdict
Phuket is a strong pre-book recommendation. The combination of distance (32–40 km), the airport taxi mafia reputation, and the lack of public transport alternatives means pre-booked transfers offer clear value. Kiwitaxi and Welcome Pickups both have solid Phuket driver networks. For Karon/Kata/Kamala (the longer routes), GetTransfer bidding can save THB 200–400 vs fixed pricing.

Common questions about transfer services
GetTransfer bids for HKT → Patong commonly win at THB 500–750 (€13–19). Kata/Karon adds about 10–15% due to distance. The airport bus at THB 150 to Phuket Town is dramatically cheaper but rarely useful unless you're staying in Phuket Town itself.
Phuket airport taxis use fixed rates (no meters). The official counter inside Arrivals charges THB 800–1,200 depending on destination. Touts outside charge more. Grab is available but limited. Pre-booked transfers offer fixed pricing, meet-and-greet, and flight tracking — worth it for families, groups, and late arrivals.
Phuket's high season runs November–April with a hard peak during Christmas/New Year and Chinese New Year. Book 7+ days ahead in those windows. Outside peak (May–October), 48 hours is fine — though monsoon season occasionally affects driver availability when flights are delayed.
Thai law requires child seats for children under 6 since 2022, though enforcement in Phuket is inconsistent. Welcome Pickups provides them free on request. Kiwitaxi offers as a paid add-on. For GetTransfer and intui.travel, confirm explicitly — many Phuket drivers still don't carry them by default.
HKT has reliable flight tracking through all four platforms. A monsoon-season note (May–October): tropical storms can delay flights significantly — mention your flight number when booking so the driver plans for weather variability.
