Malpensa (MXP), Linate (LIN), Bergamo (BGY)
Milan has three airports. Malpensa (MXP) is the main international airport, 50 km northwest — the fixed taxi fare is €95. Linate (LIN) is closer (7 km, €45 taxi) and used for domestic/European flights. Bergamo (BGY) is 50 km east, used by Ryanair and Wizz Air.
Malpensa Express to Milano Cadorna: €13, 35 min. To Milano Centrale: €13, 50 min. Runs every 30 min.

Uber works in Milan but Malpensa is far — a pre-booked transfer at fixed price is usually better value for the long Malpensa route.
Malpensa Express train (50 min to Milano Centrale, €13) is excellent. Linate has bus 73 (25 min, €2). Bergamo has Orio Shuttle bus (60 min to Milano Centrale, €7).
Three airports, three situations: Malpensa (MXP) is 50 km away with a €95 fixed taxi fare — pre-booked transfers are significantly cheaper. Linate (LIN) is just 7 km with a €45 taxi fare — taxis are competitive. Bergamo (BGY) is 50 km east with no fixed rate — pre-booked transfers are essential.
Malpensa Express vs transfer: The train (€13, 35 min) is excellent for solo travelers to Cadorna/Centrale. But for groups of 3+, a transfer (€45-68 via GetTransfer) is cheaper than 3 train tickets plus a taxi from the station to your hotel.
Milan is not just fashion: If you're heading to Lake Como (80 km), Lake Garda (130 km), or the ski resorts, all four services offer direct transfers from the airport. These are often the best value for long-distance routes.

Currency: EUR (€). ATMs are available in all airport terminals.
Language: Italian (moderate English at airports) Having your hotel address saved on your phone (screenshot or Google Maps pin) is always helpful for drivers.
Tipping: Not expected in Italy. €2-5 for excellent service is generous.
Safety: Milan has fixed taxi fares (€95 from Malpensa, €45 from Linate). Only use white official taxis. Avoid touts at Malpensa T1.
SIM / connectivity: Italian SIM cards from TIM, Vodafone, or Wind Tre at Malpensa. Tourist SIMs from €10 for 20GB data.
Tip 1: Malpensa's €105 fixed taxi fare makes pre-booking almost mandatory. Transfers at €45-65 save you €40-60.
Tip 2: Linate is only 8 km from Milan center — a taxi or Uber for €15-20 is fine. No need to pre-book unless you want meet-and-greet.
Tip 3: Bergamo (BGY) is used by budget airlines (Ryanair). Transfers cost €60-100 but the Orio Shuttle bus is only €7.
Tip 4: If heading to Lake Como from Malpensa, direct transfers (70 min, €90-120) are the most convenient option — no public transport alternative is practical.
