Navigating Athens traffic: Kifisias vs Attiki Odos

There are two main routes from Athens airport to the center: the Attiki Odos toll motorway (faster, €3.40 toll usually included in transfer price) and the free Kifisias Avenue route through northern suburbs (slower, 20–30 min longer). Most transfer drivers take Attiki Odos by default. During morning rush (7:30–10am) even the toll road gets congested approaching Syntagma, so allow extra time if you have a tour or ferry to catch.

Ferry connections from Piraeus

If you're heading to the Greek islands, your transfer driver can take you directly to Piraeus port (40–60 min from the airport). Gate numbers at Piraeus change frequently, so tell your driver which island and ferry company you're using — they'll know which gate to head to.
